Content Management Systems
I’ve been thinking about setting up a site that would work similarly to School Mates, but because I am not a programmer, I am having a hard time visualizing how to accomplish this without involving a third-party company, which will probably cost thousand of dollars to develop the site I want.
Then I came across a very helpful thread from Start Up Nation about CMS. Below you will find some resources discussed on the thread.
Drupal - Open source, module-based CMS. Additional modules can be easily added. They have a plug-in called TinyMCE that allows you to a WYSIWYG editor with an insert link button.
WordPress – A new version of their software allows for much more flexibility to use the system as a CMS tool – even to the exclusion of any blog-type content.
